That was the first thought I had too. The blue eyes are a nice touch--but I'd still have to vote against him.robfromga wrote:Kinda looks like john Edwards, who is also a dick

That's an idea for sure. I've got another idea that I think might work though. I am thinking of machining a set out of an ultra-hard, oil impervious wood like ebony or cocobola. I'm afraid of using nylon or urethane because I don't know if they will take the heat that the clutch will make. The cushi...

Negative on both replies. Wiseco, Barnett, ProX doesn't list them. Hinson lists a kit that comes with the ring gear and cushions for $199.99 (no thanks). Yamaha will only sell you a complete, new assembled basket and gear with the cushions for $176 (no thanks). Barnett does sell the cushions for the...

Clutch Cushion Alternative
Does anyone have any tips on a good replacement material to machine some new clutch cushions out of? It's for my boy's YZ85. Bought him a new Barnett basket, and when I took the ring gear off of the old basket, the rubber cushions came out in pieces. Yamaha doesn't sell them, and from what I can fin...

Something similar happened to me when I put a really high compression head on my CR250R, at the same time I put VF3 reeds and oxygenated fuel in the tank and hadn't touched the jets. It started cold and started to rev like crazy. Going up on the pilot jet cured it. Did Al check the air screw after a...

Time and money spent on boingers beats any head mod. So I've heard (and I believe it). But I don't spend money on head mods. I've got my own CNC router table. And I just spent about $600 on the little bike for a new crankshaft, piston and new Barnett clutch. That's all the boy's gonna get this year!

We don't want to change the timing or the way the motor hits. Not interested in cutting the bottom of the cylinder, and certainly don't need the timing to be any more radical. But if there were some cheap bottom end that could be gained by increasing the compression a tad, then we'd be do that. I su...

Dome top piston. BTW, it's 0.50MM, 0.020 inch. I mean REALLY tight. But the bike runs great on pump gas. I'm thinking it wouldn't be wise to go any tighter just for the mechanical clearance issues. I posted the question on TT yamaha 2-stroke forum and got nothing. Same on TT honda 2-stroke forum und...

Anyone know anything about 85cc engines?
Sorry everyone for posting this question on here, but I've posted it on two different forums and got no response. I figured my luck would be better here. I'm doing a total rebuild of the kid's yz85 and thought I might tweak the compression. I use race fuel, and don't mind sharing the jug with the ki...

CR 520cc (?) Methanol engine for sale
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-CR500-Engine-520cc-Methanol-103HP-FTZ-engine-s-/300513948265?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45f806f269 It's not mine, and I question the displacement, because a 2.0mm over bore won't give 520cc without being stroked. But I thought the guys asking a...

Resistance on a '97 CR250R coil?
I installed my 250 ignition on the new motor yesterday and have a spark, but it's very weak. I haven't yet measured the gap between the stator and the flywheel--that could be my problem I know. But I want to check my coil also. Do any of you know what it should read?

Mucho gracious! I think I understand how it works now. The exploded diagram doesn't make it obvious that the washer has a retaining lip. I suppose I could also look for an appropriate sized freeze plug, drill it out and machine it to the right depth if I had to in the worst case. Heck, I went backwa...

Here's a picture of the two-piece cotter inside the clutch basket. How is a washer able to hold it in against centrifugal force? Also, I went back to the SH website and looked at the diagram again. The '85 clutch shows the discontinued washer as being 44.5 mm. The '86 diagram shows the washer availa...

Need clutch help
My '85/'86 engine is almost completely assembled, and I've run into a problem with my clutch. I do not have the retainer washer that goes between the basket and the inner hub, and I see on the SH website that that piece has been discontinued. I have the two piece "cotter" that goes against...
