That works pretty good. Like Danny, it's carb cleaner in the fr...

I was really interested in the ignition until the hard starting issues surfaced. My 87' CR500 cranks in 1-2 kicks, EVERY time. Roll the engine over a few times when it's cold and kick the dogshit out of it. It's rare it takes 2 kicks to fire my bike up even after sitting for a few weeks. I'm not wil...

I was just thinking since I'm sticking an 87' engine in, I'd try and get the Flash Red plastic and paint the frame like the 87' was. I'm sure it'll look fine done with the current red. Thanks guys.

One Industries only goes back to 02'. I don't know how much different the plastic is from an 01' to an 02'. I imagine I'm gonna be stuck with the current Honda Red.

It doesn't hurt to stockpile parts. I've been buying crap for an 01' 125 chassis since I got the bike and have never seen it run. Suspension and chassis stuff, 20" wheel, etc. If everything goes as planned, and it never does, I'll have the funds in less than a month to pay for the fabrication. ...

I almost went this route but found an 01' CR125 roller. A buddy has an 04' 450SX with a grenaded engine. We were thinking about cramming a CR500 engine in it for play riding. Alot cheaper than fixing that 4 stroke for sure.

I'm really friggin' stoked

I snagged an 87' CR500 engine to go into the 01' CR125 roller. This is fixing to get stupid! I was beginning to think I was gonna have to rob the engine out of my 87' steelie. I wasn't happy about that route. Now if I could only find Flash Red plastic for an 01'. Anyone got any ideas on that?

I'm not saying cost isn't an issue but it's not like I'm gonna dump a bucket of money into the bike and sell it at the end of the season. I bought the bike to do an AF conversion simply cause I owned an 87' before and prefer the motor over the later ones. Once I got it and rode it, it felt like I'd ...

Weird, every bike I've ever ridden with Ohlins suspension was better than it's stock Showa or KYB unit.

Ohlins shock for 87' CR500

Any suggestions on the going rate of this shock? Anyone have any experience with getting the older Ohlins rebuilt? Any help is welcomed!

I know in 93' I rode a new CR500 and thought the forks sucked and the motor was lame compared to the 87'. Matter of fact, everyone who rode them agreed on the forks, only a few agreed on the motor. Most preferred the "non-hit" of the later motor compared to the massive hit the 87' has. It ...

Thanks. Seems they used to make one for the 87' but when I looked, same as you, it didn't list it. My subframe is fine but the bike's coolness factor would raise a bit if I could find one.
