I know this may sound insulting, But: Cardboard Is Your Friend! Seriously, cardboard from a Cornflakes (well, name your poison, about once a year, I go on a "Fruit Loop Sugar Frenzy" :eatdrink: ) pack, is great for doing mock ups. You can cut it to fit in the available space and, make it B...

1: If you have ever cut open a Gen 3 Clamshell..... you would be shocked how thin it is .... 2 : The Gen 3 is vastly different than any Gen 4 or Gen 5. If you wanted to bolt in the front mounts on the later Gens... I'd say go for it. 3 : On the Gen 3, you really need the stressed member ( a...

No Gregrobo, just open to different ideas. It's what this place Should be about. As scary as that first (I hope) iteration of the mount the bloke showed, it does have merit. My experience with the front plate Gen5 set up, though I Was aware of the differences / advantages it could present, still was...

Right, I'll start with being a Nasty Bastard - if you need crayola drawings, well fuck me, you shouldn't be doing a conversion - even though conversions rank barely above High School Metalwork level engineering. Rip over. So, you can't get any Great triangulation through bolts in the plate. But, as ...

I guess he may have some difficulty suing you between countries - and, I'd say the internet litigation world is in flux. All things considered, your welds are not too bad / fairly good. Some sections with low amps / some with too high - you can see where your welding speed / amperage used did not match, notably on the front of Y / Downtube. It looks like it 'got away from you', but you handled that relatively well, pi...

A 'T' shaped mount is just a mount. No one has a design patent on that. That, to me, is no issue at all. Machine what you machine. Though, there is No necessity to machine up a mount. As far as I'm concerned, it's an overly rigid mount that I'd never make or use, as it's being attached to relatively...

The frame is weak.... super weak..... What carries 90% of the load is the engine, as it ties all the pieces of the frame together. EVERY mounting point is critical, as its responsible for its part of the triangulation. Without every mounting point , the frame will fold..... .... dont even think abo...

I'm not sure - I've never used those types, but it looks like far to much, and it's 'projected' quite a distance. It looks like it may be staying on, for too long, and being a Second Exhaust Port. It's like a 'burn' mark, to me, in this picture. Not Effing Good! At the most, I'd expect a tiny bit of...

Hey bearorso, can you post some pictures of the long quiet muffler, both the external and internals? I don't think we have anything like that in the USA, but I could build it if I had a few pics. These are the things I found in mine: One reed petal, replaced by a 1.55mm thick metal plate - not, a metal reed. A washer, tack welded into the header / ex manifold (can't remember which), that has a 17mm center hole/ A throttle restrictor 26.5mm long - giving, I assume, 11.5mm of throttle opening....

It would have to be a complete piece of shit decomp. Are those little Harley type ones a poppet valve unit , or not? By poppet valve, I do mean just like a 4t valve and seat set up. A much cheaper way, off course, is finding some clamps with less offset (you may be able to get a few different offsets, for experimentation), a better front disc and caliper, with a nice 18" alloy rimmed wheel , or, new rims, front and rear.

I've quite liked this little project. It looks like you lifted the subframe / seat tail section up to nicely match the tank, plus get rid of the 'dog with worms dragging it's arse across the carpet', look. Something really important to consider : a Much better front fork / brake package. You should ...

I can only assume you are wanting to use those mounts on the conversion. Fair enough - very nice things. And very strong, if they are in good nick. Unless you're trying to keep the tubes surface untrenched, just cut into the welds fully. So you don't damage the mounts, 'knocking' them off. You can't...

It's what bike you have set up well for yourself. But: Gen 1s - quite widely, regarded as one of the worst frames / bikes ever made, by Any manufacturer. Bigger sized bolts are really only of use if you have a damaged frame mount - as in, it's flogged out from round. Assuming of course, the manufacturer / designer / builder has not made a very basic stuff up. I'd prefer to machine the frame hole to true circular, then machine a 'top hat' insertable w...

Any tried one on a 500 yet? My favorite riding areas are under threat of well, everything....
