All things considered, your welds are not too bad / fairly good. Some sections with low amps / some with too high - you can see where your welding speed / amperage used did not match, notably on the front of Y / Downtube. It looks like it 'got away from you', but you handled that relatively well ...

A 'T' shaped mount is just a mount.

No one has a design patent on that.

That, to me, is no issue at all. Machine what you machine. Though, there is No necessity to machine up a mount.

What carries 90% of the load is the engine, as it ties all the pieces of the frame together.

EVERY mounting point is critical, as its responsible for its part of the triangulation.

Without every mounting point , the frame will fold.....

I'm not sure - I've never used those types, but it looks like far to much, and it's 'projected' quite a distance.

It looks like it may be staying on, for too long, and being a Second Exhaust Port. It's like a 'burn' mark, to me, in this picture. Not Effing Good!

These are the things I found in mine:

One reed petal, replaced by a 1.55mm thick metal plate - not, a metal reed.

A washer, tack welded into the header / ex manifold (can't remember which), that has a 17mm center hole/

A throttle restrictor 26.5mm long - giving, I assume, 11.5mm of throttle ...

A much cheaper way, off course, is finding some clamps with less offset (you may be able to get a few different offsets, for experimentation), a better front disc and caliper, with a nice 18" alloy rimmed wheel , or, new rims, front and rear.

It looks like you lifted the subframe / seat tail section up to nicely match the tank, plus get rid of the 'dog with worms dragging it's arse across the carpet', look.

Something really important to consider : a Much better front fork / brake package.

Fair enough - very nice things. And very strong, if they are in good nick.

Unless you're trying to keep the tubes surface untrenched, just cut into the welds fully. So you don't damage the mounts, 'knocking' them off.

Bigger sized bolts are really only of use if you have a damaged frame mount - as in, it's flogged out from round. Assuming of course, the manufacturer / designer / builder has not made a very basic stuff up.

I'd prefer to machine the frame hole to true circular, then machine a 'top hat' insertable ...
