I was not really diggin the all white plastics so I grab a spare front fender from my 09 450 and started making it fit. I like this much better. Plus it kinda matches my 450

Anyway, I got the frame back last Friday and proceeded to start putting some stuff together. A couple hours later I was looking good. Bare frame to an almost MX bike... I was still missing a few pieces and need to fab a few but I wanted to see how she was going to look. [img https://bannedcr500rider...

While I was on the site I made contact with a hoon here in San Antonio. CR500 (Tony) was at the same stage in his build, so we have bounced ideas, drank beer and pondered the ins and outs of the Aliso Bob way or the full cradle. Tony had moved his Y, made the new tube and I was about to follow suit ...

Then the bike sat and sat and sat..... wondering where I was going to get a decent welder. I have pretty decent fab skills, but since I moved here a year ago, no connection to a decent welder. 714's 08 CRF250-500 Conversion

First, let me thank Bob, Roosty, Dogger and 87CR500 for all of the tips, answers and advice. I had been looking at doing this for about 2 years and can honestly say, without this site, I may not have actually done it. I started off by picking up a mint (12hour) 2008 CRF250 that already had RG3 suspe...

Sean. Do you happen to have the part number on the White Acerbis tank. There seems to be a black and white with the same number when I looked it up online.

Brit, did you try it without the linkage? One of the guys I ride with changed the linkage as well and to be honest, there was not much of a difference. My first 09 had stock shock with 48's up front and he never got his to work or feel as good as mine.. Same fluid change clicker settings etc.. only ...

Here is some reference pricing..

I bought a complete 91 engine on the stock bore with intake, carb, ignition for $750. Buddy bought a complete bike 2000 CR500 for $1600 so I guess it depends what its worth to you.

Is doing a Gen 5 chassis really worth the hassle over doing a Gen 4? Seems everyone likes the 4 chassis way better. I can't comment here as I've never ridden a 5... :? Not sure what it would be like comparing the 500 between Gen 4 and 5. But as far as a Gen 5 450 goes.... Its awesome! When it first...

Thanks Sean. Maybe Ill look into the tubliss system. I race a '10 CRF450 in +30 expert and ended up wadding my pipe in a first turn tangle, to run the second moto I borrowed my buddies bike (nearly identical to mine) and he had the newest Rekluse. I guess I got used to it but for me, I would rather ...

LMAO.... Bob you crack me up..

100hp... A stock 450 has a single outlet head that runs considerably hotter than any two stroke.

Thanks Sean. The 250 was already valved for my weight and speed. Its not be a huge difference from the set up of my 450.

I cant see how the 500 would need to be changed for my ability? I assume ill be able to go as fast on the 500 as I can on my 450...lol

Perfect.. I run 14-50 on my CRF450 so I have a few extra sprockets kicking around.
Since I am doing the 08 CRF250, Ill have a 1.85 rear wheel. I hate to have to go get the 2.15 since this 250 only had 12 hours total run time...yes, it is MINT!!

Has anyone mounted a 110 on the skinny rim?

500 A/F MX only set up

Guys, Just curious what the MX guys are running on the 500 A/F specifically Gen 4. I have read the gearing sticky and read most posts related to gearing and set up, and seems most of the 500's will pull anything and everything. I will have an 08 CRF250 with a 91 500 engine. It will be an MX only bik...

I was wondering if the small holes were to control flow, as in allow the coolant to draw heat before being fed back into the rad.

Just thought it was interesting to note that the "Cool Head" does not have this coolant path restriction.

Im doing the bore and plug on mine. I was doing a little research on the cool head and notice that they eliminate the head gasket and o-ring it. Doing this obviously opens up the coolant passages without the restriction of the gasket. Has anyone kept the stock gasket but bored the holes in the gaske...
