I put a 19" on my '01. Main reason being I used it for motocross as opposed to desert/offroad.
Theoretically you don't need the extra tire depth for sharp object impact protection for moto as opposed to offroad rocks, roots etc.
With the right tire the 19 makes for a lighter overall wheel weight ...

Jamming would be one thing. Taking control of the signal enough to land it unscathed seems a little more hard to believe.

Maybe you aren't getting full travel on your forks. Front too stiff, throws the chassis out of balance. Loads the back end and mabe your rebound is too loose. Compression too soft, back end collapses and then WHAMMO! Full on " How many tickets for THIS Fair Ride"! Make the Tilt-

Hmmm. The stock 5.5 kg Ti spring on my YZ450 is only about 90mm wide. I wonder if one of those would fit your shock. Who makes the spring you have?
