Hello all, I have an 89 CR5 with 2008 CRF swingarm,shock,forks,triple clamp etc.
I like running a irc m5b on my 5 but it appears I can only get a 110 instead of a 140 for the 19 inch wheel....can someone verify this?
if I can find a 140/90/19 that is what I want to run on the rear.....

i run a 140/80/18 michelin S12 soft terrain tire on my CR250 for trails. i ran it on my 450X before i converted it into a motard. hooks up pretty dang good. they make it in a 130 for a 19 inch wheel. they also make the M12 intermediate terrain tire in 130 for a 19" wheel
What year is your CR 250 ...

Where do you ride? This is what I have done with my last three AF's. I ran the 19" on motocross tracks and built up another set of wheels with an 18" for a paddle or desert tire in back and a good sand tire for the front. Some guys like the 20" up front in the dunes, but I never went that route ...

you all helped so much whith the forks I though I would hit you up with some questions about the rear shock.
I bought a new spring and have no idea how to change the old one out.
I cant find anything in my manuals to help so Im hoping one of you can clue me in on how to change the oil and spring?

RaceTech's website has a great "spring-rate calculator" function. I used it, and it was right on the mark for me.
I have tried their calculator....I plan to upgrade my tank to a clarke and my motor is 7 lbs heavier than the stock 250 engine (from what I hear)
so I guess I need to put my weight in ...

There is only one correct spring rate...... and thats the one that positions the bike correctly with YOU on it.

The most commonlyl suggested position is 4" of sag in the rear, and 20% of the stroke up front.

Hey all, I had a machine shop make me a set of the flanged bushings for my 5.
they used a stainless with a rockwell of 30, they estimated the oem to have a rockwell of 50.
any metalergists on here?
what do you think, will they be strong enough???

When I tore my 89 down, I discovered the last time the swingarm bolt saw grease was in 88 when it was assembled.
long story short I damaged one of the flanged races that are pressed into the side cases that your swingarm bolt goes through.

atleast once a year I tear down and re-grease everything. ofcoarse every few months it seems like I come up with some reason to tear the thing apart.

I take mine apart every 4 or 5 rides, and grease the ever lovin hell out of it with Bell Ray water proof grease. I had a 1987 CR 500 that the guy never serviced, I bought it in 1988 and tore into it, and wound up having to replace all of the bearings and races, wound up being about a $300 bill back ...
