Sure you'll love a sumo'd 500 as well.
Good way to draw attention and get busted in the process, but surely a fun ride.

Why does Honda zig-zag the HS brackets ?

There's not much room to play with on the left side case since the countershaft sprocket/pocket takes up so much space.

There's room on the clutch side............ billet covers seem to be available (and weldable).
My Sportster has a "pull" type clutch......... it has a funky ball/ramp mechanism in ...

You have a hudraulic clutch?

I had one on my CR250................ used a Nighthawk master, a Mazda slave and a custom pusher rod.
It worked great, w/a light lever.

Maybe your cylinders are mis-matched and making for a heavy ...

As tough as the ultra is............... gas/oil'll eventually soften it up and it'll be blown out in a week or so.

An o-ring set-up is the best/cleanest way to go.

It was a brutally hot summer.
I actually just brought the bike out of hibernation as of today.
We just had a cold snap (mid 70s), and fall is finally here.
Winter time is the best time to ride here, so I haven't had a whole helluva lot of seat ...

Sound is crappy................... vid seems like it's in slow-mo.
Could'a done better but maybe it was camera jitters...........

That rear sprocket is way to big.

Need to gear it to the moon for any practical street riding.

Seems like a waste, to rip apart 2 running bikes for 1 conversion.
I've built complete bikes from scrounged-up parts. It takes time, but well worth the effort in the end.

Score some cheap parts from other members and assemble a 3rd bike.
It'd be a helluva collection to have a 500 steelie, the 450 ...

At least your front mag has a flat rotor.
The F4 Honda wheels I've used needed the rotor pad milled down...... so the dished disc would clear the upper fork leg.

Hope the front goes as easy as the rear did.

I'm a fan of the hooligan mod myself.

Does your front mag have a 320mm disc?
If it does, all you need is a sumo caliper remount bracket.

Good to see you kept the cush drive (seem people weld the flange to the hub)....makes a huge difference in minimizing chain slap.

Yeah, GSS did my jug work also....really cool dude, as well as most everyone else here also.

I know where you're at w/the lighting system.

Instead of jacking w/the tuna can ignition, I decided to just install a rechargeable NiMeh battery and 100% LED lighting.
It passed the state inspection w/flying colors.....lights, mirrors and street legal rubber.
Your road/track 480 looks oddly cool ...

Looks almost like the one I did (and posted) a while back.
I really like the quality of the stainless S&S Harley decomps.

Had one of the Acerbis cyclops light kits, but it was cheezy and wouldn't fit the forks......and the low-wattage stator wouldn't have been able to power the thing.

VFR in the rear and RC51 front.
CBR600F-3 parts on the thumper.

I had thoughts of installing a t'stat, but summer days will be here soon and cold weather riding won't be a factor.
If coolant temps are in the 180* range, I won't worry about it. One less part to fail and less to clutter things up.

Did you make some sort of pressure by-pass system?

Each of my bikes has a different personality. After a learning process, I finally have a routine for the 500.

It can be cool in the shop, or down-right cold, it starts really easy.
W/o the decomp valve, it'd be impossible for this old man.
