Yep, they are Marzocchis. I picked those up when I built my 600 several years ago. I should have purchased the other 3 pare the dude was selling as well. The SP2's wheels are much lighter, you can tell just by looking. By no means whould I consider mine heavy, but all the weight adds up. The rotor h...

Even just having an old steelie is something to brag on. Owning a conversion is something a lot of people dream about (I did/do). Having one that wasn't built w/a check book makes it even more special (not that there's anything wrong w/that). You built it yourself (as a lot of us here do) and you (w...

My shitty-assed rotten luck

The engine is mounted and I was working on radiator supports. I got side-tracked while Mike was doing my cylinder work. I kept eyeing my VFR and had an (stupid???) idea. I spent $600 on Sun rim kits and then I score a deal on RC51 parts. At least I can still use the new tires I got. I always loved t...

Imploding more than it already has is more like it. Yeah....it's sad. If you total the cost of parts and figure the hard-assed labor you put into the thing, there's no way the average Joe Blow would fork out that much cash. It'll be worthwhile to load it up and haul it to a few bike shows before you...

How can a piss-ant 250f grenade an engine. What happened to Honda's 4-banger engines outlasting the bike?

Anyway, their loss, your gain.

Keep the 1st one, build the 2nd one and start a collection.

I can't say that your problems are my problems as well. I went w/an FMF pipe and my build is from a 125. I read that people have had good success w/an FMF (gnarly) pipe. So that's what I got. Then I found out that most people prefer using a Pro Circut. Anyway, my pipe fit pretty good, but not perfec...

I thought about that. A CNC machine would be sweet....could punch them out 10 at a time. I'm sure there's differences between gens and models, so 1 design might not work on all conversions. You'd have some loss of crank case pressure if the cage was spaced out. This is my first conversion, and I can...

Where there's a mill, there's a way !!! Fixed it for you. Nice job. Words of truth. I can machine shallow, angled pockets into the carb flange for the left 2 mount holes. The 2 center bolts line up fine, just need to make a pair of wedged washers. The other 2 wedge-to-cylinder mounts will be...

My air boot mod is a wedge.

I've heard people talk about issues w/adapting air boots. Some claim X boots fits Y bikes with Z air boxes. Duct tape, silicone, PVC pipe, heat guns and even putting a boot inside a boot. I don't have the luxury of keeping spare bikes/parts laying around, hell, I don't even have a heat gun. I don't ...

Did GSS do any port work?

I used a sharp chisel to get them out of the cases. The bushings are pressed in, but not a terribly tight fit. They are hardened steel and I couldn't drill them out. I've seen threads on which Honda spacers work with what gen bikes. I didn't have time to screw around and wait on shipping and chance ...

Durable? As a Sherman tank. I gutted the cases on a junk core engine I bought for moc-up. I was amazed....for the god-awful, nasty, shitty oil that was in it, all the gears and forks (and clutches) looked like it was a low-hour engine. When I pulled down the engine that I'm rebuilding, it was the sa...

Yep. After many years of saving up for the equipment that I desperately wanted, I have a good collection for what I need. The Bridgeport mill is really old (and rugged) and is the latest addition to my shop. It's also my favorite machine to use. Don't get the wrong idea. At one time all I had to wor...

Sweet lookin' mochine. Have any vids of the thing in action??? I built a turbo Camaro for a friend, he recently converted it to e85. He said it feels the same (it's crazy-fast under boost), but coolant temp is now way down. The next step in the process is to turn up the waste gates from 10psi to 15 ...

Thanks atank. Got 3 of the motor mounts whittled out today. In the time it takes to chop the factory mounts out of the old cradle, I figured I could make new ones. 2nd gen finally progresses

After putting it off for a month, I finally made time to weld in the new cradle. I laced up the new rims a long time ago. I couldn't wait any longer to see how the tires look, I just had to mount them up. Ahhhhhh, how I love new parts. http://inlinethumb59.webshots.com/42938/2895233930102045454S425x...

Sit on the bike and see how it feels w/your foot on the pedal.
I like mine adjusted down past the top of the foot peg, but that's just me.
Looks like a small adjustment might fix it.

I've heard the rigidity gripes. As bikes get older, they are less wanted and go for cheap. No doubt that each new generation out performs the last, nevertheless, you have one cool machine.

It'd make me proud to own that one.

I love my TiVo/captured MX races

The DVR had 2 MX races stored from the last 3 weeks (2 weeks?), I finally had a chance to watch them. It was Budds Creek and Red Bud. What happened to Chad Reed??? I lost track of who was doing what, so is Chad out of action??? What a horrific crash Mike Alessi had...body slam/head plant into the di...
