I sent a PM to blownbillybob but have received no reply yet. Does anyone have a business name or phone I could use to contact? Thanks.

Re: Wiseco std size forged piston cylinder clearance

There's a guy named John Tice, http://www.smallenginemachineworks.com, who has been very active in cylinder re-boring who lives just about 30 miles from me. So far he seems like the best local option. What experience has anyone had with his services?

Re: Wiseco std size forged piston cylinder clearance

I called Wiseco and they say the std size piston is appropriately undersized for the stock cylinder bore size, so no additional material removal is desired, except honing.

Re: New member in OR

Well that sounds more reasonable. I'd like to swap my std size tank back on if it can cover my rides. It's a real pain getting at the spark plug with the oversize tank. I had to make a tool to pull the cap back on.

Wiseco std size forged piston cylinder clearance

I need a replacement piston. 871M08900 is standard. My cylinder feels OK with some visible scuffing. If the standard size is meant to have the cylinder honed out .001 for the forged type piston, then I can probably use just the standard piston. If it is made to work with the standard stock cylinder ...

Re: New member in OR

You might want to look at mounting a 1 gal RotopaX tank in front of your front number plate to get some more range. 1.4g is pretty small.

Re: New member in OR

I believe my stock CR500 tank is 2.4gal? And the petcock has no reserve position. I have a larger tank on but was thinking I could get by with the stock one. We usually do about 30 miles. 2001 CR500R Engine Type: 491cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke Ground Clearance: 12.9 inches Dry Weight...

Re: How does my cylinder look?

It's the cylinder side of the bridge you need to look at. The bridge is supposed to have a bit more clearance than the rest of the cylinder since it gets hotter and experiences different thermal expansion.

CR500.PNG Since I'm going to finally have medicare this year and can go to the hospital whenever I want I decided time to move from my heavy beast XR600 to a the much lighter CR500.
