Another 03 crf450 Conversion

Here's a few of mine. I know lots of these photos are redundant but, keep in mind the new guy thinking of starting a build can never gety enough pictures. I cut the frame tubes 1/2" above the nutserts on the side. https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/bf8ec6d696b753545853d1e598a32c15.jpg Th...

I put a primarydrive gold Oring on my son's yzf450. He's had several rides on it so far and it seems to be holding up very well. Been as good as any I've used so far. I've had good luck with the RK xso also, it just costs more.

got to fined some aliminiam for the exstension Good luck with that. That frame has the odd ball rectangle. I bought some oversize bar from onlinemetals and milled it to size. Left was the original size. Two on the right are the size of tube. https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/919b251e1523480...

Looks like you are jumping in head first! Glad to see another build getting started. Been rather quiet around here it seems in light of recent revalations. I'm getting ready to post some on my 03 crf450. I would suggest you slow down and study before doing a lot of cutting. You might think of anothe...

Clear Coat

Has anyone ever bead blasted a frame and then painted with clear to preserve the finish? If so, how did it hold up? I've thought about doing this to some areas of the frame like the insides of the frame rails and places that don't get wear but are hard to get to for cleaning without taking the bike ...

Well I got a chance to test the bike on Saturday. My last and only big bore two stroke up until now was a YZ490 I had back in 96. I've been on yz250s every since then. The track conditions were probably the worst for trying to see what the 500 would do. Hard black clay(think concrete) with a slight ...

Here is the tool. What you talked about doing will probably work. You might even be able to just put some longer bolts in the two holes and use a bar between the bolts.

The two threaded holes are for a installation/removal tool that is supplied with the FWW. It is basically a flat bar about 1"x3"x1/4". It has two holes that are used to screw to the two holes in the FWW. In the middle, it has a 1/2" square hole for a rachet or breaker bar. The FW...

I made plugs for both ends of pipe. Drilled and tapped the cyl. end plug to accept a male air fitting to connect the shop air hose to. I regulate the pressure @ 50-60psi. I think it is a good idea to "burn out" the pipe before plugging the ends and heating because it could become very expl...

I agree, the rear is about the most durable I've found and works well.
The IT front is just horrible for me on any kind of hard pack. I don't think I'll ever buy one of those again. Never tried the SI before.
