I remember there being quite a bit of talk on here that GSS isnt the shop it used to be. I would look around before deciding to have them do your work.

Hot Rods assembled cranks

Any good? I remember there being an issue with them discussed on here years ago. No dice on finding the thread. The prices for a complete crank, main bearings, and all bottom end gaskets/seals is around $300 bucks, and the cranks alone run around 200. I would imagine the local shop (PR Racing) would...

Top end gaskets - rubber coated metal

I cant for the life of me remember which gasket company makes the rubber-coated metal head/base gaskets for the 500. I thought it was Cometic, but I dont remember.

I have had the base gasket push out on the side before, so the metal/rubber is the only one I will consider using.

Thanks guys!

I dont see you having a problem selling these...... you get a proven kit together, you would sell them all day long online. I'd love one, but I dont have the $ to work with right now.

hmm......let me check my finances and get back to you, I hate the pull on my 500, I start slowing down firstly because I cant pull the clutch on the 500. I dont have little "bitch" hands, my hands are stronger than just about every person I know. Everyone that rides the bike, the clutch pu...

Its more like..... why? ? Site just saved a guy from dealing with MPS. I dont post much, but I do check back often. And every time I need some 500 info, I find it here. The decline of the site probably has a lot to do with the newer 450's - much more reliable than in earlier years, so the need to b...

Sounds like you have a jetting demon - I had one with my 250R/300R bigbore trike. Jetting was either rich and blubbery, but the very next size main down, she ran clean until it seized. Fat pilot jet so starting was cake. Fooled with needles and clip positions - always the same. too rich straight to ...

Would love an E-start. Even from sitting around, 10-15 slow primer kicks, and one good kick and mine is running. But, the button would be nice. And I doubt I would notice the weight. I can ride my buddies CRF450X way faster than I can any bike of my own, and it weighs a solid 30 pounds more than my ...

Lithium Ion batteries are the way to go for this. Insanely light, tons of energy in a small package. Expensive-yes. But there is no better option IMO

Ice Studs

So, we picked up some "ice studs" Picked up a bunch of 1/2 inch, course thread, hex head screws. Threaded them into the tire lugs (hex head is what makes ground contact) Surprisingly, they hook up on the ice as good, if not better than a dirt tire in the dirt. Havent gotten much seat time ...

Wheel question

Are dirtbike wheels pretty generic?

I ask because I want to set up a set of wheels for riding on the ice that I can put on my 250 or 450. I would imagine pretty much anything modern honda is interchangeable?

I dont see how 15CC's would make much of a difference in how something like this ran anyways. Now, the changes in the porting that would surely be accompanying the displacement change I can see making a world of difference in how the bike runs. Would be interesting to see what difference just the po...
