Re: New member in OR

I double checked. My font sprocket is a Moose that's stamped 14 16, so probably a 14 tooth, how confusing that is. The rear is a 49 tooth.

Re: New member in OR

I'm probably estimating low but I don't really know for sure as I'm not logging anything.

I will say about 60% of riding is WFO on logging roads ripping through the gears and the rest is single track lugging it in 1st.

I have 13/48 gearing and being a 89 motor I have the lower 4th/5th.

Re: New member in OR

On the aluminum frame bikes you have to heat and push in the gas tank which reduces the volume.

I figure I'm getting about 15 miles out of the ~1.4 gallons.

I'm going to buy a Trailtech Vapor (local company Battlground, WA) to get a real idea of the range. The RPM/Speedo wont hurt either.

Re: New member in OR

That looks like fun. I find my self wanting to open up the 500 more and more. I like the more wide open type stuff or at least a healthy mix of trails/logging roads. I will say the 2 places I go are nice in the fact that the single trap continually loops back and crosses the logging roads so you are...

Re: New member in OR

It isn't super active but a few people still around. It's the only site still active dedicated to these bikes.

Where in OR? I'm in Vancouver WA and ride down near Estacada, OR and Clatskanie, OR. I only ride single track/logging roads but I do occasionally take it to the sand.

Re: bore & honing!!!!!

Are you able to also do the de-comp valve?

The prices are great and knowing you actually ride these bikes goes a long way.

Thank you.

Re: How does my cylinder look?

Does the bridge look off? The bridge is the divider you can see in the pic that divides the exhaust outlet, right?

Thank you

How does my cylinder look?

Hey guys I got a 1989 CR500 in a '06 crf250 beer can that I recently replaced the header o rings on and took a look at the cylinder. It runs great, doesn't feel down on power at all. I see no signs of detonation, the piston wash looks good but I see some dark lines on the wall. The hatching still lo...

I'll be watching this one!

I love my 1989 motor but I keep hearing how '86 had the biggest jump in power and they made head changes, lowering compression, in the years after. Going to keep this as a trail bike.

Anyways I hope to do an '86 for a sand bike.

My post might of seemed pointed... hi everyone!

Just ordered a fmf turbine core arrestor. So that's chill.

Need to source some 100 octane. Previous owner said he ran 50/50 with ethanol free 93. Would probably be fine on the 93 alone

Any Portland/Vancouver PNW people?

Just picked up a 2006 crf250r with a 89 CR500 fresh engine/transmission. Added bonus since I'll be titling in WA using the Manufacturers Cert of Origin, I'll be the original title holder. Anyways was a clean build, pulls really hard. I need to sort somethings out still. I need a Spark Arrestor. I ne...
