Not sure how I missed that thread but those instructions look better than others I had looked at. Sounds like time to give it another shot.
Thanks.

I tried on two, first one ended up leaking and I could never seal it up. Second just didn't want to keep the shape, every time it cooled it expanded again. Am I the only one that had trouble with it not holding shape as it cools? After ruining one tank and buying a second I just didn't want to risk ...

WTB: crfx fuel tank modded for a 500 or mod mine.
I was just working in the garage today and realized yet again that I haven't ridden my 500 since I got it into an aluminum frame and the only reason I haven't ridden it (in over a year) is that I have had zero luck with the gas tank. I had someone else due the work and long story short he returned ...

Fuel tank help.
I already posted a similar thread looking to buy a tank for my 500AF conversion but figured I would post here looking for services as well. I need to get a tank on my 500, haven't ridden the poor thing in over a year because I haven't had the patience to get a tank working on it. Does anyone know of...

I'm no MX'er but I'm now running the tubliss kits front and rear and love it for trail riding. I'm able to run very low pressures (4lbs rear, 5lbs front in my last mud race) without the tire rolling over too much in the corners and without a single flat so far, even with some very hard hits to the f...

92 CR500 outside head tube diameter?
I have a Scotts steering damper on my CR and am tired of the damper tower constantly wiggling loose. I have a buddy who makes his own damper towers that look to be much more stable but he needs the outside head tube diameter to see if he has one that fits and I don't own a set of calipers to measure...

I had a set of SG-10s and while they were very comfortable two rides after I got them the foot peg snagged on the external hinge and ripped it out of the boot. It was molded in and when I called Gaerne they said they couldn't do anything for me, that I just had to buy another set of boots. So I did,...

I just did some mx riding a few weeks back. I am certainly not an mx rider though. It worked fine but didn't feel like there was any advantage. I ended up overriding it and using it like a regular clutch that wouldn't stall. It was nice that I could lock the rear brake up sliding into corners but si...

CRF rear master cylinder on a 92 500?
Does anyone know if I can mount a CRF450R rear master cylinder to a 92 500? I want to use a left hand rear brake kit from Rekluse but they don't make one for the 500s and said my only chance of making it work was with a CRF rear master cylinder.

Usually the alternator is still fine.... maybe the rectifier or voltage regulator failed.... Alternators are pretty foolproof. Interesting. With the number of failures I saw in that 24 hour race maybe people should start wiring two regulator/rectifiers up switched, then if they conk out flip a swit...

Almost any alternator failure can be directly traced to a overload condition somewhere in the harness..... like a direct path to ground. If the unit fails, look in the mirror. You must mean premature failure? These things do tend to have a fixed lifetime when used. Living in Alaska for 20 years I'v...

Good to hear all of the votes of confidence! Update us when you have prices and I probably be in line for one. I was aware of Electrosport building the SH stuff. That was actually a plus for me, maybe I've just had better results with Electrosport that the rest of you guys but over the years I've ha...

I've thought about it, but their supplier has been around or ages as well. Even E-Line, while having discontinued their CR500 alternators said they still will support them. Guess I've just been burned a few times in the past by people who were nice enough to support a project that interested them, b...

On the fence
I probably won't be in the majority saying this but I'm still on the fence as to which way I'll go. 200 watts sounds nice, but 130 watts is probably enough for my needs and will fit under the stock cover which is a plus for me. The other biggie with electronics is how well it will be supported. I kn...

In the recent test of the 2008 SH CR500AF, MXA did not like the ignition and went back to stock. However AJ has said that this was not the current SH (Electrosport) unit but something different with multiple ignition maps they are working on and fitted to the test bike. I read that article but read...

Are you talking ignition coil or lighting coil? I didn't know there were many lighting coils and I'm looking for lights. Something over 100 watts. If the service unit had a couple of different maps, or at least an improved map, plus started with one big kick (my favorite style of kicking) and kept t...

Is the fix in?
I haven't heard anything on this subject in a while and am still craving some lights. Has Service Honda figured out the issue or are they still selling the units that need rabbit kicks to start?

different types of oil will never require a change in jetting, only different quantities... are you sure there wasn't just a measurement mistake? I've never heard that before, what is your reasoning for thinking the jetting will never change? I would have thought the opposite, that oils of differen...
