The problem with using a Cr 500 in a quad is there is np counterbalancer and a 4 pooint vehichle will shake itself to death. I know of people who have put a Cr5 in a quad and they told me vibs could and did crack the frame in places. Needless to say just another reason why a bike with 2 points is t...

Hmmmmmmmmmm. but wait a minute and a 4 pooint vehichle will shake itself to death Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Hey FastKart is your Kart shaking itself to death? r...

bah.. slow old fart thats hogwash.. I know quite a few guys who are just as fast on their 2 wheeler as they are on their quad.. but lets not get into the quad vs bike debacle. Im just wondering if the newer TRX frames are better designed and supported for the bigger motors that they wouldnt crack a...

its all good I just don want to give a new member the wrong info . thanks for checking Jay You should have seen my best swap to date, I put a dirt track 19' front wheel on my 97 CR 500 and ran a 125 rear tire on it. it fixed the push but was kinda a pig but overall a improvment by far for sand ridi...

The front wheel will work fine from the CRF with the right axle spacer combo the back will work once you machine a few spacers. In 2000 Honda went to a bigger rear axle. it is no problem. ok hold on a min. he is asking about a crf wheel fiting a cr500 late modle so you are saying that the late modl...

CPI Saber cylinder
This has been going on for 2 years, I willl believe it when I see it. I wanted to build a street legal CR 5 Saber and Calvin told me he would have a package redy and that was 2 years age.
I was really excited about it so I went out and bought a 50mm Lectron carb. IT NEVER HAPPENED on his end!

I have a CR 500 and A TRX 250 and since this Saber cylinder is a direct bolt on cylinder for a TRX 250r, I don't see how it can be made to work on a 500. I know there are some machinist that can work miracles, but this one I would love to see. The 500 cases are so wide compared to 250's. There's a ...

I made a post about this before,I talked to Calvin at CPI he builds the Saber cylinder. He told me there was a guy Mcoy motor shop who was building a 590cc Saber on a CR500 bottom end. I talked to Mcoy about 4 or 5 months ago and he should have it done. Mcoy engine shop he was on planet sand and Cal...

Any part of the motor that comes in contact with air is suseptable to oxidation, I dont think it has anything to do with the oil used. No but some oils coat the parts better in the betton end. I read 3 different threads where guys were saying when they took the motors apart they noticed rust with t...

I didn't have any problems getting a new rod for my 85, any OEM place should be able to get it. Danny, don't mutt your engine up! if you like the older style power the short rod is better. It definitely pulls out of the hole better but the power band is shorter. The spcer setup if done right...

I would get the long rod crank. it is heavier and the power will be more like a new one. I do not care for the short rod as well. The long rod have a longer pull and the power is broader but you give up torque. The newer rod places less stress on the rod and will last longer because of less rod ang...
