Looked closer at that pedal. The adjustment at the master cylinder is pretty much used up. The master cylinder's bolt holes have been elongated to make room for a banjo bolt with pressure switch built in. So I need to start by finding something with a low profile that will clear the subframe without...

The clymer manual recomends SAE 10w-40. Is there any brand that you guys have found to work best in thses bikes? Looked alitttle harder into the clutch and ignition covers and found thses. I assume they will match, because the part number is simular. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008ZHHC5Q/ref=ox_s...

I thought I was supposed to need a 250 ignition cover for the swap I have read about? Or is that only if stock cr250 parts are to be used? Edit Nevermind Its not the cover, its the backplate..... this is why I should be asking people who know better though. I'll find the correct one when I get home,...

Other than unforseen parts, it would probably be a good idea to do a few other things while I have it open. I will at least need this... Gasket kit http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000GU3BFA/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?ie=UTF8&m=A3TGC5XRRCX4P2 And what oil is the best to refill the bottom with? It also ...

Now we're talkin! That thread you linked to is going to make this much easier! So, if there were something missing in there, or if anything should need replaced, where would be the best place to look? Also, there may still be a question of parts compatability because idk if the engine is all original.

It doesn't need to be anything too fancy.... maybe I will make one at work based off the original, just alittle lower. It just feels weird... like I have to point my toes up a bit too much to get over it.

Thanks, I was afraid I might have to do that... unless anyone else has a suggestion or can see something wrong in that pic I'll take it to the same friend who swaped the cylinder head and see what he can do...

clutch won't disengage

My clutch has always acted funny, and now I know there is deffinately something wrong. After installing a moose ez3 clutch lever it wouldn't roll freely at all in gear wiith the clutch lever pulled. We tried about every way of adjusting it at the cable, and decidid it must be something more.... so I...

need lower brake pedal

I need to replace my rear brake pedal, and would like it to sit alittle lower by 1.5" - 2". Are aftermarket ones adjustable, or do I need to find one that's shaped the way I want it? Anyone else have issues with the placement of this? What specific part will do the trick / is the best qual...

It's anyone's guess what the guy I got this bike off of did to it. I think that's the only identifying mark on the engine. It's right behind the shifter lever. This number is also stamped into the frame; Jh2pe0205 hc 600527

6601076 is the engine's number.... so how is that decoded? Those orange number plates aren't gonna work out so well. They match the original plastics fine, but I accidently got a nice red rear fender.... and I like the red better, so  https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/51edc4467dff071c7...

It's an 87 for sure. I was there last night, but forgot to look for any number on the engine. Got some new parts, and more on the way! Maier "orange" (supposed to be flash red... looks close enough) side number plates, ufo black front fender, some $15 footpegs, and my new tail light. I wan...

That's actually an "as purchased" shot. In that pic you can see it leaking gas down the side of the cylinder, so a friend swapped it with the other one. It works fine for me without the decompression valve. If you're interested in the old one let me know. I don't plan to use it, but I will...

Nothing about the pipe, it looks great as far as I can tell. Just wondering if the frame is any different from 87 to 89..... Crap... now I feel extra dumb. As I'm thinking about it I remember there being a plate with the years 86, and 87 on the frame. Since it has rear disk breaks I guess it was pro...

street bike project

I'm alittle confused about what to do at this point, so it's time to ask the experts. I got the bike because it had a title, and had no trouble getting a plate for it, but now I'm not so sure what year I have. The coolant lines from the engine are parallel to eachother, and vertical, but the tank I ...

hello from NE Ohio

well I'm new to the forum, have a lot of questions, but ill stick to introducing myself. For the last year I've worked in an aluminum foundry, and before this I did landscaping for 6 years. I'm currently starting my own mowing business so if you're in the area.... I could cut your grass :) I got bot...
