Bottom end swap?

I know it's a long shot, but wondering if anyone out there would be interested in swapping my 1990 complete bottom end less the crank for the later model silver case bottom end (92+ I believe). No case damage on mine, my one bike is a mutt with a 1990 motor in a 1998 frame and I'd like to get it bac...

Re: Wiseco std size forged piston cylinder clearance

Hit up blownbillybob, every piston will vary a little....I guess you could just slap something together but for a motor that will last years and years I'd just do it right. Send the jug to Bill, he will size it properly with the proper bore measuring equipment that will make sure it isn't tapered o...

MojoScojo wrote: January 9th, 2020, 9:21 am No joke on the bad mileage.

I was typically able to get 60-70 miles out of my 95 on North Idaho single track with the stock 2.4 and 13/51 gearing.
Dang that's good, I think my 98 was more in the 35-40 range when it was getting low enough that I was glad to be back at or close to the truck.

Re: New member in OR

On the aluminum frame bikes you have to heat and push in the gas tank which reduces the volume. I figure I'm getting about 15 miles out of the ~1.4 gallons. I'm going to buy a Trailtech Vapor (local company Battlground, WA) to get a real idea of the range. The RPM/Speedo wont hurt either. Holy shit...

This is the place to be for CR500 info. It is pretty quiet usually but there are some good people here with a ton of great knowledge and experience with these bikes.

I always let Roosty know when it's down... even though I hardly ever touch my 500's I still keep my finger on the pulse here.

Welcome to the funny farm. Adam Millar (Roostius Maximus) is the Canuck you refer too. User blownbillybob I believe is in the SoCal area and does good work as well.

Your best bet is something like www.partsfish.com to find a breakdown of all the parts. You're going to run into issues finding some stuff (transmission parts are getting hard to come by).

The general consensus seems to be the 05-07 era CRF's are the most preferred, but there are many opinions out there. A lot of guys actually prefer the KTM steel frames for conversions as well.

I'm here too, think 500's are just dead and nobody cares but a select few...sad. Hardly. The market here in North Idaho is still healthy. I had my 98 on Craigslist a while back for $2000 and never got a single bite. Not sure there is much interest in the 500's in this area anymore except for a sele...

Go figure! Maybe someone with a bit better knowledge will chime in. If the spoke count is the same I can't see why it wouldn't work but I'm no expert.

There is only one similar conversion I'm aware of, and the work on that bike was, shall we say, sub par. Hopefully someone else can be of more help.
