trying to use a the 02 because that's what i have lying around. has anyone on here used an 02 and up? if so how does it differ from the older mod?

I have a 93 cr500 that i eventually plan to stick in the 2002 chassis in my garage....in the mean time, my cdi took a crap and i would like to use the 250 ignition if I can. I've read thru the sticky about swapping over and doing the stator mod, but unless I'm reading it wrong, that's a 99 model cr2...

so the 500 quit getting fire this weekend, not sure if it's coil, cdi, or stator. downloaded a service manual this a.m. to perform troubleshooting. my question is can i use my cr250 coil if that's the problem?
