That gear and corresponding fork will cost me 260 $ here in Sweden :shock: and Honda-parts direct don't seem to ship internationally (they charge 120 $). Any tips of someone who ships overseas?

I split the cases just now and the only worn thing I can find are the dogs pictured below. Shift forks and drum are ok as well. No broken teeth or dogs.

Happened to me on my 86,was the 3rd and 5th gear engagement dogs,can't remember which shaft,I ended up swapping out the whole tranny,same deal 1st to 4th still worked fine

Sounds like you are running way lean,possible air leak?Blown base gasket?

looks similar to my 86 system,but mine has the male/female connectors on the wires for the ignitioncoil not a bolt on type ground like that one my ground wire comes from the ignition coil,mine does have the red shrinkwrap on the other wires as well,that flywheel also looks different then mine

The 125 frame is alot smaller in the cradle then the 250 therefore it was easier to swap all the stuff to a 250 frame and do only the front mounts instead of having a new cradle fabbed,like these guys are saying ...
