Hey J... IMHO... It looks like a $600-800 tops bike... Sometimes you can get very lucky and get them for less. Lots to consider tho... parts are getting "EXTREMELY" scarce and very expensive since Honda does not produce parts for the 84's at all and aftermarket is limited and ebay gets pre...

Brian, do you have an airport anywhere close to where you live? I take my 5 gal. jug over to mine from time to time and fill it with av-gas. Its like 6 bux a gallon, but it is 110 octane and "NO" metanol/ethanol whatever added. Might be worth a trip!

"84 Crank assembly

Hey fellas... I need a crank/rod assy. for my '84 CR500. From what I have gathered the assy. from an '85 or '86 is the same as well. So if you have one pony up! :D
Or at least help me find one!
Does any outfit still sell 'em?

Hey roostie, glad you chimed in. What are your thoughts? Does Hot Rods make kits for the '84s? Or is that what you meant by OEM, I need to try to find an original?

Overhauling '84 CR500 engine...

Okay, who can tell me what I need to do for my crank? I got tons of up and down and side play, basically rod bearing is shot... Now for the issue of finding a rebuild kit for the crank/rod. I think '85 and '86 are same as '84, but where can I get the parts for the rebuild, or a new/good replacment c...

Well, it stands to figure I rekon... Pulled the carb off to swap and noticed the piston had some scoring on it so it looks like I might be doing a build sooner than expected. Pulled the jug off and looks like I caught 'er before anything major grenaded. Con rod wobbles around like its on a pivot...l...

Yes, I also have an '84. I picked it up a few years back from a young fella who wanted to upgrade for $450.00. It was in fair shape and had the forks upgraded to the inverted version. Verdict is still out on which model/year of bike they came from, but work and handle very well. I have done a few up...
