Radiators have different left side hose locations and therefore different hoses on the 89 and 90-01. Bypass hose up top is facing opposite direction but that's no big deal. Somebody just told me on the other site that 90+ work on 89 no problem. He has 01 parts on his 89. So 90-01 rads and rad hoses ...

Anyone have a radiator lying around somewhere they can measure for me? I need to find out if the mounting points are the same for the frame side and the shroud side. Also if the dimensions are the same with the overall size of it. To me they look the same but they changed the routing on the left sid...

Anybody have lots of radiator knowledge?   My 89 needs some new rads and rad hoses. I can find radiators no problem but can't seem to find any hoses.   There is some hoses on eBay that say they'll fit an 89 yet they have hoses pictured for 90-01 that are shaped differently. Ads claim 89-90 or 89-91+...

Looks like some of the build will be tough to figure out, but you can do it!! At least I hope you can I'd love to see a YZ conversion.

Here's my crank. First pic looks like the rod is grooved with the washer sucking into it, but it's just the angle of the picture.

I used Yamaha pegs on my 89. They are the same mounting as the 01 you saw but have a different centerline on the mount. This puts the pegs slightly lower and back from the Honda pegs and make things more comfortable for bigger riders. 98-04 yamaha are all the same. Yz yzf wr.... All the same pegs. C...

Oh i agree its plenty fast as is (or was) especially in low to midrange on trails. The only thing it lacked was on top on high speed desert runs. I may not know all the ins and outs or specs and what needs machining on the cr500 100hp, but I've rebuilt several bottom ends in my life and am surely qualified to do my own work other than machining of course. I don't have a machine shop.

Nice pumper man! I had a fooler for a while, it was a blast. Have a 350x now...it's a blast too!

Re-checked with my good set of feeler gauges and its at .052 but thrust washers show no signs of wear. All the little oiling dimples on them are even.

Ok I will definitely check out the thrust washers and see how they are.
Luckily I didnt have any of the problems you mentioned. The only reason that I was going to split and rebuild was from the out of spec side clearance.
