I worked as a mechanic for several years on cars, but 2 strokes are odd to me. I know that the shape and size of the pipe can affect the running of the bike. Thanks for your input!

Im wanting to do the AF build using my 85 c5, but all the builds ive seen, the pipe used appears to be a newer style, say 93. My question is, will this style of pipe affect the running?

Right now in the middle of rebuilding my 85 CR500 engine. Hail from southern idaho, usually ride at hagerman or paradise riding areas. Found this site cause im wanting to put my engine in a newer chassis, and from what i've seen, this is the place to learn it!
