I have, but unfortunately the swap to a '90+ cover creates issues with the mechanical rear brakes. The 2 piece covers are 10 millimeters wider than the 1 piece covers and you end up with clearance issues with the rear brake lever. Since the repair to the original cover is holding up I'm going to run...

Thanks! Properly jetted and geared, 2 strokes are fine on the road. I've ridden my supermoto all over the place with the only ill effects being numb hands from the vibes at certain speeds. With riding spots 45min to an hour away though, I personally wouldn't even ride a 4 stroke dual sport to the tr...

UPDATE As it turns out, the right side case cover DID have a little corrosion issue. I had coolant leaking into the tranny. After taking the cover off and looking at it closely, there was a small hole about the size of the tip of a ball point pen at the bottom of the front water pump spout. I cleane...

'90 CR500 dual sport
Installed a Pro-Cycle dual sport kit and went from 13/51 to 14/50 gearing so she's not on the pipe at 45mph and I can now ride to the local trails instead of loading it on the truck. The bike didn't mind the gearing change at all. It's got about 30hp more than what I really need for most trails anyw...

Forks, triples and axle bolt arrived today so I got to work this evening. Everything bolted up pretty well. Only thing that needs to be addressed are the caliper bracket bolts. The '90 bracket bolts are a little too long. I spaced them out for now. I'll have to order up '97 bolts. Didn't get a chanc...

FMF Turbinecore
Looking to quiet down my '90 so as not to draw any unwanted attention while in the woods. The older Pro Circuit silencer I have on the bike now, while wicked sounding, is pretty frickin loud. How is the FMF Turbinecore?

Thanks for the input, guys. I really like the forks on my '97, so I may try to find a set of post '96 forks and triples as mentioned. I already have a front wheel off my '97 since I turned it into a supermoto. Right now I have the forks set on full soft and they are tolerable, at least for the type ...

1990 forks, holy harsh!
Took my '90 out for a serious ride for the first time today. Rocky, rutted, gnarly single track/woods ride. The front end is way harsh and deflects off just about everything it touches. Does anyone have tips and/or fixes to get the front end to cooperate?

Gave the bike a bath and did some riding. What a beast! I'm going to replace some hardware, freshen up the paint on the frame, recover the seat, add a skid plate, steering damper, lights, stick a plate on it and use it to connect trails legally. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/198278_...

Brought home another CR500
And did I mention it's titled? I will be turning this one into my plated woods bike. Pretty clean, low hour 1990. Every bearing and seal in the bike has been replaced, the engine is fresh (bottom end and all) and the suspension has been rebuilt, front and rear. All that's left to do is cosm...
