Re: Nodge's Gen 1 '99 CR 250

So this is actually the 99 that I started building so many years ago. The skull bike was a 97 that I built with most of the stock parts from this 99. 69BD4A71-56A2-467B-8E23-E61C5CB428DB.jpeg 773D6179-2DAF-4604-9058-2407549D2E97.jpeg 3F2E2154-392B-4E12-944E-89C3537E11E9.jpeg A1E470C3-C51A-4DAF-892E-...

If I can get a set with the E-start, I'll be all over it. Perfect for my next street legal 450x conversion.
Looks like great stuff.

I've been using one for a few days now at a new job.
It's got lots of hours on it, is almost silent, and powers everything I need to use while barely running off idle.

If you need a generator, I've never used a better one than this. I'm very impressed after just a couple days.

I've got one on my AF I bought from Roosty. It would be hard for me to compare it to the others, since this motor is so modified and I've never ran another pipe on it. Short answer is it works great on the bike I have it on now. Pulls hard from idle all the way up to "holy sh!t!" Roostius ...

You'd be looking at around $200 for a used coil, box, and flywheel. Might find a good deal on eBay for much less if you're patient.

I've pieced together a gen1 conversion (for cheap) with lots of trick parts off eBay over quite a few years, hopefully it will all come together soon!

The reason it's not done much is because you need new frame rails. If you're going to go to that trouble, you might as well do a newer frame.

I used to motocross my '85 engined AF, I ran 13/50. Do a 2nd gear start, and pretty much leave it in third the whole track, shift to 4th on the straight, back to 3rd for corners. It was an animal, too explosive below 3rd gear, very difficult to control. I was faster on a CR250 everywhere except the ...

I hate to admit, but my KTM EXCR 530 sees way more action than my CR's these days. Too convienient to be able to ride right out of the garage, up to the fuel pumps, and hoon around without loading and unloading the bikes. The fact that it has e-start, and gobs of torque doesn't hurt either! Nice tra...

Wear gloves. Heat slowly, pre heat the whole tank if you can with boiling water or a large space heater. Heat a larger area than you think you need to. It works better to slowly move a large area than to quicky move a small area. Use blunt objects to shape, no sharp tools. I used a baseball bat, lar...
