very true, 500s are much faster if you take advantage of short shifting and using the torque to run a higher gear. unlike my 250 that you ring out to make good power. my 85 has massive midrange hit, but if you let it rev out to max rpm it feels very weak. just how large bore single cylinder engines ...

could you give an example of whats going on, is it pouring out blue exhaust, poor throttle response, any popping going on... etc

I run kenda k335 tires with liner with around 8 to 9 hundred kold kutter 1 1/4 inch screws in the front and around 15 hundred in the rear. yes thats my coolant pissing out at 1:00, rads were lightly blocked. never overheats in MN but in the dunes it overheated every big pull. and yes that was a great misshift.

Upon tearing down my 85 i found some play on the stator, is the bearing junk and/or should I take out the crank to be inspected?
