On target. (apropo pun)
Specially liked her last sentance.
Myself, a 12 gauge works nicely, up close personal and can't miss.

I snagged that liner from the 500. The rings were still in it and the piston is melted against the bore. Anyhow, anybody have an opinion on my '85 frame I got out of there? Reckon it's useable or does anyone know if that kind of heat will make it brittle? I have a nice '97 frame in the basement but ...

Sam passed out while it was burning. EMS had to look after him. 30 years of his life went up. I'm glad I skipped going up there yesterday. Look real close at that pic of the CR250. You'll see the footpegs, and the brake rotor right where they were on the bike. Also, he was building an '00 conversion...

My heart was in my throat when I drove up. It's worse than I had imagined. They didn't get anything out, it spread so fast. Then about 300 rounds of ammo started going off. The aluminum framed bikes just melted. They look like crime scene outlines. I had 3 bikes in there and a cr500 frame. I found t...

I'm just now reading this in the online edition of the local newspaper. I'm gonna head up there in a little while. My '85 frame and paint package was in there as well as a '68 DT1, '71 CB450 and various other frames and parts of mine. We'll see if anything survived. http://www.mtairynews.com/view/fu...

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer so I leave all that stuff up to you guys. They say there are two ways to learn something, the hard way on your own or from someone elses experience. I've learned a lot from you guys on here and your contributions are noted regularly on ALL the other moto foru...

Well, that's pretty much why a diesel doesn't do great offroad, at least around here in the mud. Tremendous torque. My buddys ram 3500 gets stuck all the time because it spins so quick. A more fair comparison would be a Duramax I think. I don't know much about the Duramax but surely it would have pu...

Well, the Ohlins is too long for the 480 so it puts the stop to my scheme. I do have that '97 shock though. I've heard the stock '97 is better than earlier versions? My '92 has been redone by Race Tech so I don't know if I would actually gain anything but would like to know if the '97 is considered ...

If you use your buddy's nitrogen tanks remember you'll need an air shock adapter so you can pull the hose off without losing any pressure from the reservoir. Go to a mountain bike shop and ask for an adapter for a Fox air shock or similar. You've got an air cooled big bore. Is it high pressure too?...

No, can't use Argon gas. Didn't really get a good explanation. Argon is more dense 0.58 (Nitrogen) : 1 (Argon), I understand that it is only a reservoir about the size of a pop can, but racers are always saying ounces lead to pounds... :P Also took it a bit further with the ideal gas law PV=nRT, th...

'85 '97 shocks
Follow me on this one, '97 roller with rear shock. '85 with an Ohlins shock. '82 with a factory shock. I wanna use the Ohlins on the '82 and it looks like it will work. Does anyone know if the '97 will work on my '85? The '85 is being painted so I can't match it up right now. Mostly concerned with t...

I called Race Tech and spoke to louis in tech. Yes, 284 psi. Apparently '82 '83 had high pressure shocks. No, can't use Argon gas. Didn't really get a good explanation. No matter, my riding buddy Sam is gonna get a nitrogen cylinder since he already has all the gauges and stuff. Nobody around here i...

Speed Bag story
You know what a speed bag is right? In the gym, a boxers training tool. Imagine a really good boxer pounding the crap out of one and not missing a single swing at it. Ok, friday my buddy Sam was working on a trophy for a race between 5 friends on vintage '74 125's at the local track. Nothing fancy, ...

Here's the page. This has gotta be a typo, I mean all my other manuals call for around 142psi. What ya think? Also, I'm gonna swipe a canister from an XR200 for the rebound adjustment. Any thoughts on that? Edit....It occurred to me that I could possibly get it recharged at a welding supply shop, go...

I'm gonna rebuild a shock and was wondering where do you guys who have done it get it charged with nitrogen, I don't think any of the shops around here do it?
Will argon gas be ok or does it have to be nitrogen?

Hi Ollie, How is it going with the conversion, any pictures? I made a couple of conversions myself but have sold them. My next one will be in a 02 cr125 frame, I have tried one and liked it a lot over the 02cr250 and 05 crf250, but hey, I'm a lousy rider soo take it for that. On another note I sell...
