Hey guys, can anyone enlighten me on the correct pulse trigger air gap for the stock CR 500 ignition. I have heard opinions vary from .003" to .030" . . . I have '90, '93, and '96 engines.
Thanks

Help a bro in Aus . . ? WTB gearbox components
Can anyone help with a full set of gearbox components, or a bottom end, or even a complete motor. I seem to have lost all the hardening off my gearcogs, and they are as rare as rocking-horse shit in Australia. I'd prefer the 93+ with the higher ratio 4th and 5th, but frankly, will take whatever I ...

That made me laugh Matt, I admit. I ride with a guy here who is the polar opposite. He considers smoke to be one of the major food groups, and so he's pretty much cross-eyed most of the time . . . . but he rips on his old steel framed KX500. However, I rode with him one day when he couldn't get any ...

I haven't been on Banned for a while (but still riding and loving my Gen4 500AF), and I was blown away to see 'Rhino's AF rides' as a topic heading . . . . weren't you always the dude telling us AFers that we were "wasting our time, can't improve on a steelie, rode one once but ya coudn't even give ...

Yep, I recommend you ditch the Sudco 'recommended' jetting before you even try to run the bike ! It will come with a 60 pilot and 160 main. It blubs like a bitch off the bottom, and will seize as soon as you pass half revs under load, it's EVIL lean !

electric start
Yep, I'd be interested as well, assuming price remains around the stated figure, and it's not an adapted Kato system. I actually started fabricating an ES system based on the 510TE Husqvarna model, (starter acting on the clutch drive gear, not ignition side) figuring that this gave strength and ...

The simplest solution I have found is the Ricky Stator 25W charge coil, running through a regulator/rectifier, and charging a battery. All feeds are then taken from the battery . . . . . My AF is based on a CRF450X, so I have used the standard size battery (5AH, I think) and the stock CRF/X lights ...

Can anyone in the USA help out an Aussie hoon ?
Hey fellas, I need a little help . . . . I wanna buy something on fleabay, and the seller, who's in Bunkerville Nevada won't post internationally. Is anyone willing to post it on to Australia for me if I buy it, and have it sent to your address in the USA ? If you have any concerns about what you ...

Cheers 2stF. We ran it on a chassis dyno earlier this week, to check what was going on. Nothing conclusive to be learned tho. It read a little lean off the bottom, ( but Lamda's are notoriously inaccurate in 2 strokes at low revs,) so we richened up to a 55 pilot. Still a little lean, but better, so ...

Not sure of the ratio, i've not actually done the maths, but compression pressure is 175 psi, cold engine, wide open throttle, which seems about right . . . (again, very similar to my own bike at 165 psi) All leaks were totally eliminated, and I even undertook a VERY dangerous test, to ensure this ...

Oversize bore problems . . .
Just sticking a toe in the water here, see if anyone has heard of problems boring the CR over the 1.0 oversize Honda recommend. My mates AF has a 96 engine, bored to 90.5 (1.5 oversize). The f@#king thing detonates and seizes constantly (so far, 4 times, but saved the bore with a light hone each ...

Sorry man, missed this post. . . . Yes I replaced one, but no, it wasn't displaying the same symptoms as yours. Yours is clearly an issue with the assembled length of the push rod. Mine worked perfectly, but as I was rebuilding it anyway, and the item was showing some wear, I just replaced it as a ...

I'm with Gregrobo on this . . . . I love the idea of an ES CR500AF, and was going to do something with it myself, but got sidetracked with fuel-injection . . . Ricky Stator 25 Watt charge coil. (Actually measures nearly 30 W output at high revs ! ) With the battery fully charged, and the stock Honda headlight on full bore, it takes over 6 hours solid riding for the demand to flatten the battery, and the light starts to dim a bit (keeps on working though ...
