that's what I thought, the hills are big compared to our Oregon dune hills. That's why to be competitive, you need RPM's and gear at the drag hill to do good. The start doesn't matter as much the longer the hill is. Here in Oregon, the start is everything since we only have 3-500 ft hills here.

With that NOS from what people have told me, you are going to get more rpms regardless of your setup. I wouldn't mess with the port timings, with the long hills you have, NOS, high rev pipe, big carb, lots of gear, and hang on. How long is Olds hill and Comp hill at Dunmont, got to be at least 3-400...

It's new chain and sprokets 2 rides ago. I cheaped out on the chain and now I'm paying the price for it probably. That's the only thing I can think of.

I have an RK 0-ring chain on it now but it's probably not the higher tensile strength chain and yes I noticed it's stretch some. I have had real good luck with the RK x-ring chains and screwed up when I bought this one. It's probably the chain getting stretched.

Chain Hitting Inside Of Frame

Okay, so I'm not the smartest guy in the world and especially with this 500 I've had the last couple months. When I bought it I took it apart to clean it up, put it back together and it's been fun ever since. I've been doing some work on it to get ready for a ride to the dunes this weekend and I not...

Im gonna get the NOS dialed in with the trusty PJ first then if im not happy Ill step to a 41 mik/keh

If this is going to be your drag bike, I would go with a 44 Lectron personally.

I know they are getting say 150 hp out of some banshees twins and probably between 150-200 out of the triple cylinder versions. I wouldn't call bs at all, I have seen them as well. Heck the little 4 mil 421 cc cub cylinder banshee on gas are pushing 100 hp. When you get your nos kit installed and ru...

yea Brit, you are probably right on the launch thing. Lewisclan, I'm suprised at the top speed, (50-55) were your kids hitting the NOS? I would think with your mods on the bikes you have plus the 20-25 shot you bikes would be hitting the 80-90 hp range with a great rpm range (8500-9000) I'm not that...

lewisclan, thanks for the info. That's just what I needed. How do these machines run against the big banshee draggers at Glamis or at Dunmont? You never see bikes at the drag hills up here in Oregon that can compete and I think it would be alot easier and cooler to build a bike to do this. Boy you g...

Hey 100, at what length over on your swingarm were you launching full throttle and not having the front come up? I know there are alot of varibles but it's the starting point that I'm interested in. Just figuring the bike will run a 10-12 paddle tire and have say 70 HP. Is 4 over long enough. I woul...

thanks for the info. I have this quad sitting at home I was going to build a drag bike out of it (been on quads for along time) but after riding the 500 around I bought a couple months ago, I feel more at home on the motorcycle. I want to build a drag bike (buy another 500) but didn't know on the sw...

this is alittle off the subject but for a dune hill drag racer, what is the average extended length do most of you run on your swingarm? I would assume it's mainly to launch and keep the front end down. Is 3-4" enough or is it more like 6"?

I'm with you on that one. One thing I found out long ago, it's about impossible to have one bike that does everything well. You almost need two bikes to accomplish your goals. One for Glamis to drag race, one all purpose. This will be hard to believe but it will save you money in the long run. Once ...

I believe I read someone's post about getting beat at either the drag hill at Dunmont or Glamis, right. I think I would look at it more like Danny Graves is talking about but I will put a twist on it from what I said before. If you are just building a drag bike for sand hill racing and you don't rea...

I don't have a nitrous set up but I have ran alky in the past on some single cylinder larger bore machines and in this application you have to run a fuel pump. With alky you run a vacuum fed fuel pump. You can tap into any vaccum source, on this application I went into the side of the reed area. Som...

If I did nitrous and needed to power the fuel pump (I assume it's a vacuum pump) I would run a vacuum line off the transfer port of the cylinder. It appears you are running a electric version?

My 01 Ford F250 4X4 Crew Cab V10 GAS with 106,000 miles on it still runs like a top, gets 13-14 MPG empty, 8-9 MPG pulling our 30ft Weekend Warrior and has never left me on the side of the road. But then again, it's GAS, not a diesel.

Rad Valve

Personally I prefer the V-Force cage. Only complaint on these, sometimes you must use sealer on the gaskets to get it air tight. I think they perform better all around than Rad Valve, plus I haven't ever replaced a reed petal with a V-Force. I like the fact you can use the stock intake manifold as w...

Modifying exhaust manifold for GSS cylinder

Keep your stock steel manifold. I have an aluminum (claimed billet) manifold for a quad I have and it's pretty yes, but as the exhaust springs vibrate, they wear into the holes they hook to and will eventually break through. The steel one hogged out will be better. When I send a engine in to get por...
