oh, I do ride in winter when its nice enough too.... Vernon boys are spoiled, and don't see much weather colder then -15C, Manitoba and Alberta .... well -15 is nice weather for us... typically its -20 with a good wind chill here, and Manitoba is drifted like a mother. Its real windy there... and co...

I really kick myself for selling all my old 500 stuff! I had 2 spare motors, manual, jets, enough gaskets and seals to rebuild both, spare heads, pistons, rings c clips, reeds, etc etc.... its becomeing very expensive to accumulate and more difficult to find good deals on the 500 stuff in these part...

Thanks Adam, More great info! so, on the HF is the margin .015 (1985) or .040 (1986) the HF heads are the same chamber as the ML 87-88 heads, with 87 having a margin of .035 and the 88 at .040 later heads with the ML3N casting have a .070 margin and the ML3R is you checked is .080 This HF1 head I go...

I also checked the prox piston for the exhaust port problem Adam brought up, and I found my new 89mm jug exhaust port was 1mm wider than the 91.5mm prox exhaust face. That difference would be even more dramatic if comparing the 91.5 mm piston to a 91.5mm bore job, due to port taper. Good point you b...

Comparisons of stock cylinder heads
ok, well now I know Adam has looked at this topic, but I couldn't find it, and I was not sure if he had measured the squish band dimensions angles, and volume, as well as bowl dimensions, in addition to the total head volume. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii142/dubious01/accessories/CR500%20Mot...

Observations of different keihin carbs.particpation encourag
Some of this has been observed by the likes of Sean, Adam and others... some may not, I thought I would share, and hope others will participate with positive input, and logical suggestions or questions. OK, so I have a few carbs laying around the garage.... Left to right>> 97 CR250 keihin PJ38 with ...

Thanks for the heads up on the cool head btw, good info. how close do their squish bands follow the angle, or radius on top of the piston? I was just hoping I could do this with a stock head, as i want a decompressor in the head, I have seen a few cracked cases at the kickstarter , and don't want to...

..... it would still ping momentarily at 1/2 -wfo, and about 3500 rpm, pulling out of corners etc...otherwise I would have kept dropping the main. Pinging at 1/2 throttle pulling out of a corner at low revs has nothing to do with main jet selection. yes thanks Bob, thats why I had a pile of needles...

If cutting the improper squish (most likely cause of the detonation issue) caused too low a compression then you didnt mill the head enough in the beginning. well, you need to tell eric gore and Honda that.... I followed erics book , using honda's head... the squish angles on the stock head ...

next time I have a variety of cdi boxes, flywheels, carbs, powerjet, and egt on hand... and thanks to this place more knowledge. egt will really help take the guess out of things I think.... Its pretty hard to read plugs accurately with some fuels, and also when there is a very specific rpm, and thr...

yes, I didn't expect to get chased  , normally they never used to bother... I lived on the edge of town and the cops never cared until this day.... I dumped a 198 in it, and c-12 to start safe then pulled timing, and dropped the main gradually, but still ended up at 192. I was in total disbel...

Thanks for the info on the old ones, but I didn't see any dimensions for the new 871MO.... I would do a cast piston, but I intend to cut a window, and open up the intake side of the skirt a little bit...at least on one of these motors. .... personally I haven't ever had any issues with wiseco except...

So, can anyone divulge dimensions, like intake window width and diameter, exhaust face width compared to the old pistons? That would be great information to share. Adam, if you have this info I will buy a couple pistons off of you. Tearing down 2 motors today, deciding what I will need, and putting ...
